Big Bang’s Seungri Defends Kimchi on Japanese Variety Show

While he may be working overseas, Big Bang’s Seungri confidently showed pride in his country without any hesitation.

On November 2, Seungri appeared on Nagoya TV’s Zakiroba, where different foods from around the world that would suit the Japanese dish ochazuke (rice with tea) were featured for an international panel from Nigeria, France, Afghanistan and Colombia.

When the Korean dish kimchi was introduced, Seungri optimistically promoted the dish, saying that it’s really delicious and the red color makes people hungry.

It was also noted that Seungri pronounced the dish as ‘kimchi’ and not with the Japanese pronunciation of ‘kimuchi.’

When the Nigerian participant said kimchi is just fermented cabbage that’s been kneaded by the hand, Seungri jokingly yelled, “What did you say?” making everyone in the studio laugh.

The Nigerian once again teased Seungri, saying that cheese from Italy is a better side dish than kimchi, and this time, Seungri got up from his seat and pointed at the man, yelling, “Don’t look down on kimchi! Don’t overdo things, really!” and “Why do you keep judging it like that?”

Seungri raised his voice in a joking manner that allowed the situation to pass in a cheery mood with everyone laughing.

Also, all the other international panelists were doing their best to put down other dishes as well to flaunt their country’s dish on the show.
