Boy Abunda returns to TV on September 14

Boy Abunda has learned to value his heath more

More than a month after he was rushed to the hospital due to very high fever (41 degrees Celsius), Boy Abunda’s fans will see the King of Talk again on ABS-CBN’s showbiz-oriented talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday, September 14.

This, Boy's long-time partner, PAGCOR’s Assistant Vice President for Entertainment and Bingo Bong Quintana told media at the press presentation of Miss Casino Filipino 2014 on Friday, September 12.

Boy, said Bong, lost weight and moves more slowly. But his mind  is as active as ever.

Not easy

“He’s okay, not 100 percent, but he’s ready to go live on Sunday. It wasn’t easy. We are adjusting up to now. He’s not the same Boy in terms of mobility. Per pag nag-uusap kayo, mabilis ang utak, ganon kalikot ang utak. His mobility is slow kasi may pain.”

If Bong had his way, he’d like Boy to slow down and fully recover. But Bong respects Boy’s eagerness to go back to work.

“I can only do so much,” says Bong.

Two-week fever

He recalls that dreadful day when Boy’s health took a turn for the worse.

“He had fever for two weeks but continued working. Nung hindi niya nakaya, he was admitted to the hospital. Bumagsak ang immune system nya.”

The doctor told Bong that Boy’s liver got affected and developed an abscess “na kailangan i-aspirate.”

Now that he’s back at home, Bong says Boy needs the proper diet and street food is a big no-no. He must also regain the weight he lost (more than 20 pounds).

Bong added that Boy has learned his lesson.

“Now he knows better. Kung kaya, go. Kung hindi, stop.”
