Bruno Mars helps typhoon Yolanda victims

Bruno Mars hands over the $100,000 check to Bantay Bata program director Tina Monzon-Palma to aid children affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

International superstar Bruno Mars is the latest global celebrity who is helping out victims of Supertyphoon Yolanda. The Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, who is  in Manila for his Moonshine Jungle concert, personally handed his donation of $100,000 to ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc.'s Bantay Bata on Friday, March 22, at Solaire Resort and Casino.

His donation will be used for the assistance and care, including feeding programs, medical mission, post-traumatic stress debriefing and scholarship, of children affected by Yolanda.
Bantay Bata Head Tina Monzon-Palma received the donation.

Excited to be back

"I'm really excited to be back here in Manila. This is one of the most special moments in my career, coming here a couple of years ago and playing a sold out concert in Manila. Singing up there was really special for me," said Bruno, who was dressed in black suit and his signature hat.

Bruno is holding his second Manila concert on Saturday, March 22, at the SM Mall of Asia.

"I really can't wait to perform tomorrow. I promised to be back and now I'm here," he said.



Shoutout

Bruno also made a shoutout to America's Best Dance Crew winner Poreotics, who who will do a front act in his concert. Poreotics danced with Bruno in his music video "The Lazy Song." Three of the members from the US based-group are Filipinos, including Chad Mayate, Justin Valles and Law Devera.

"The Lazy Song" is my most successful video, thanks to you guys! And also the cheapest one to make," he said.

Bruno, who first performed in Manila in 2011, has sold over 5 million albums and 45 million singles worldwide. Among his hits are "The Lazy Song," "Just the Way You Are," "Gorilla" and "Locked Out of Heaven."
