Bruno Mars’s pre-concert party: Minute to win it

The pop star excites fans at a party at Republiq on the eve of his March 22 "Moonshine Jungle Tour" concert at the Mall of Asia arena. Video shot by Billy Jane Ramos, Yahoo Southeast Asia.

Bruno Mars's short but sweet appearance at his own pre-concert party was a solid minute of the partygoers' time at Manila's high-end superclub.

The two-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/producer hijacked the DJ's deck on the eve of his second sellout concert in Manila --only to sing at least a quarter of his hit single "Locked Out of Heaven.”

Celebs in the house

The global artist of Filipino descent effortlessly pleased the crowd at Republiq who waited for more than three hours for his turn to take the party scene over.

And it wasn't your ordinary crowd. They included the winners of Viber’s pre-concert party promo, with celebrities in the house including Sam Pinto, Phoemela Baranda and JM Rodriguez, as well as executives of the night's sponsors.

That's not to say Bruno just did a quickie at the club. In fact, he was inside with the jampacked area for more than an hour (he left at 2:15 a.m.), and just stayed there with his entourage, the same team that surrounded him upon his arrival to ensure his safety that night.

Insane ticket prices

Let's just say that his "minute to win it" activity (though the event was promoted as pre-concert party hosted by him no less) was a primer for a much better music experience Saturday, March 22, at his concert at the Mall of Asia Arena.

His Moonshine Jungle Tour concert marks Bruno's second appearance in Manila. He was here in 2011. And despite ticket price ranging from P2,000 to P16,000, Filipinos don’t seem to mind forking over insane amounts to watch a "kababayan”—albeit a certified hitmaker.

And for that, Bruno is grateful. He had two words for his Pinoy fans at the party: "Mahal kita."
