As part of its annual recap of the world's most-watched videos for 2011, YouTube revealed December 20 the five most-watched beauty videos featured on the site this year. Celebrity beauty tutorials dominate as users strive to emulate the likes of Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez, while a video showing how to look like cartoon character Princess Jasmine from Disney's 1992 picture Aladdin also made the top five.
Here are the YouTube beauty videos to have received the most views in 2011:
1 - LMFAO "Sexy and I Know It" inspired tutorial
Fans looking to create a look inspired by American hip-hop duo LMFAO's video for "Sexy and I Know It" tuned in to a tutorial uploaded by maryjlovesyou in September. Using products by brands including Maybelline and MAC, an extravagant look featuring multi-colored shadows and false lashes is created. The tutorial received 11,874,482 views.
2 - Angelina Jolie tutorial
10,479,514 people watched You Tube beauty guru dope2111's tutorial explaining how to use facial contouring and cosmetic trickery to achieve a fuller pout emulating film star Angelina Jolie.
3 - Selena Gomez tutorial
6,354,973 users wanted to learn how to recreate the voluminous curls and color pop cosmetics displayed by singer Selena Gomez in the video for "Love You Like a Love Song," tuning in to itsjudytime's tutorial.
4 - Jennifer Lopez tutorial
In a tutorial posted in March by You Tube favorite and fashion and beauty blogger Jessica Harlow, viewers learned how to evoke the glossy aesthetic favored by singer Jennifer Lopez in the video for "On the Floor." 4,251,024 people watched it.
5 - Princess Jasmine tutorial
Vietnamese-American makeup artist Michelle Phan, who also featured twice in You Tube's five most viewed fashion videos of 2011, offered a guide to recreating Disney character Princess Jasmine's feline eyes and luscious lashes, receiving 3,027,864 views.
