Coffee beans and nanotechnology: Asics America unveils spring 2015 collection

A workout fueled by caffeine, but not in the way you'd guess: Highlights of Asics' newly announced collection include the patented new textile technology Ecoline, made of repurposed coffee beans which makes for a moisture wicking, breathable polyester.

With a focus on off-road running, the collection offers the FujiTrail backpack for lightweight comfort to carry your essentials on the trail. The GEL-FujiRunnegade sneaker keeps gravel from entering through the tongue once you veer away from the pavement.

The footwear collection offers a range of choices based on where you may be running, optimized for either pavement or trail and rain or shine under the motif "Run Your Way." Triathlon shoe GEL-Hyper Tri features elastic laces and high elasticity in the heel and tongue and Seamless Construction for use without socks.

That doesn't mean Asics forgot to add socks to the collection: in fact, socks take center stage as Asics steps out Elite Performance with its patented Pro-Fit Technology, which caters to all athletes. Tennis players will enjoy the court-ordered Resolution sock with NanoGLIDE technology, whose superior heat and moisture management performance is said to reduce chafing, hot spots and blisters.

NanoGLIDE is the trademark of Richard Rudinger and Asics is one of several companies to sell socks made using the technology. Multi-purpose crew socks for street and trail (R8214 Ultra Tech Nano Glide Crew) are available from Rocky Georgia Socks, while mini crew socks (X4 Tech Mini Crew Socks) are available from Cabelas using the NanoGLIDE technology and bacteria-inhibiting Copper CuTec.

The collection will become available in January 2015 online at asicsamerica.com and in US sportswear retail stores.
