In an interview with “Cinema News” on Friday, March 22, Coleen said she and Gab broke up even before he left for the US on Monday, March 25 to study music and explore other opportunities.
“Actually, wala naman talagang nag-decide na parang we need to break-up. Sa sobrang daming pressure na nilalagay sa relationship namin, away kami ng away. Pabigat ng pabigat yung mga away. Showbiz pa, aalis siya and we have different goals,” Coleen said.
She added, “We're at the same stage of our lives na paangat pa lang kami. Mahirap na yung long-distance relationship, paano pa kaya na dagdagan pa an showbiz kami? Lahat ng hirap na meron ang isang relationship, nararanasan namin ngayon.”

Besides hosting “It’s Showtime,” Coleen stars in the new fantaserye “Little Champ.”
“I reflected on it and he's (Gab) doing this for himself. Kung i-priority yung relationship, dapat hindi siya pupunta, but that's not how it should be. Dapat next to God and your family, it's yourself. Go there and work on yourself.”
She didn’t discourage Gab from going to the US since she knows he had always dreamt of studying music there. For now, they must work on their priorities, even if it means sacrificing their relationship.
“I have a good life here. My family is here. Parang ano iyon bigla na lang ako aalis? Bigla ko na lang iiwan iyon? He's prioritizing himself, I'm prioritizing myself also,” Coleen said.
She relates that her love for the Valenciano family remains.
“Andoon pa rin yung respeto and it's a beautiful relationship. I don't regret it because ang dami kong natutunan. It changed me also in a way, I became more responsible and mature.”
