Complete 'Star Wars' to screen in a Chinese first

Tencent will give the 'Star Wars' franchise its digital debut

This year's Shanghai Film Festival will show the six existing "Star Wars" films in a cinematic premiere this June.

The SFF organizers and Walt Disney are collaborating for the saga's theatrical debut, during which "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope," "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back," and "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" will be shown for the first time on the big screen.

Several stars from the original trilogy are to make appearances in December 18's release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which sees Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) among those handing over to a new generation of heroes -- and actors.

The Shanghai Film Festival, now in its 18th edition, spans June 13-21, and hosts the prestigious Golden Goblet award ceremony, alongside the Jackie Chan Action Movie Week and the Asian New Talent Award.
