Confirmed: Channing Tatum to lead next 'X-Men' spinoff
Channing Tatum will appear in the “X-Men” spinoff film “Gambit.”
Despite reports to the contrary, The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the Magic Mike star has closed a deal to lead the action film and play the role of a mutant whose superpower lies in kinetic energy.
An earlier report cast doubt on the project, saying the deal was in danger of falling through.
The deal could mean that Tatum reprises the role of Gambit in numerous instalments, just as Hugh Jackman starred in multiple X-Men films as Wolverine.
"Gambit" is scheduled to be released in October 2016.
