International singer David Pomeranz may have been in different countries over the years, but the “Gotta Believe in Magic” singer keeps coming back to the Philippines.

“This is a very special relationship that I have here. I’ve been playing my whole life since I was a little boy and been all over the world many times. But there’s something unique about the Philippines in terms of opening their arms to me and I walk right in and we hug each other. That’s why I love coming back. I have so many friends here. It’s like another family,” David said at the press conference for his new album “You’re the Inspiration” on Tuesday, December 18.

More than 5 Christmases

David shared that he has spent Christmas in the Philippines more than five times already because he loves the Filipinos’ “togetherness.”

Since the American singer-songwriter spent past Christmases in Philippine hotels, he now hopes to celebrate the holidays in a Filipino home.

“It’s very sweet. There’s a lot of music, a lot of family and loveliness, which I love about Christmas wherever I am. There’s more meaning to it. There’s always a feeling of togetherness here, all year-round.”

He was thrilled to meet boxing champ Manny Pacquiao on a recent plane trip from Los Angeles and even attended the latter’s 34th birthday party in General Santos City.

“He had several thousands of guests there that are truly his friends. I’m very impressed with him. He’s a deeply good guy. He’s very generous with his friends and really charming. I’m glad to finally meet him after all these years. It was a lovely experience,” David said.

He witnessed how people “dearly love” Manny.

“It’s not just because he’s a superstar. He spoke to everyone, he is very generous. He is a very sweet man, sincere, honest with his love. That’s why people love him back. He gave away money and prizes. He was laughing, charming and very fun,” David observed.

David’s new album contains popular love songs cover like “All Out Of Love,” “As Long As You Love Me,” “Have I Told You Lately” and “I’ll Be Over You.”

“I get to sing my favorite love songs over the years, none of which I wrote but all of which I love and always wanted to sing. They happen to be songs that my Filipino friends love the most, so it’s like putting it together and it’s a lovely thing,” David said.
