Dingdong Dantes proposes to girlfriend Marian Rivera on national TV

The GMA Primetime King and Queen are now engaged to be married.

Dingdong Dantes joined the public proposal bandwagon Saturday (August 9) when he popped the question to his long-time girlfriend Marian Rivera on live TV.

“Sa tagal ng pagsasama natin... may isang bagay na malinaw sa akin—it's that I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he told Marian while on bended knee.

He added, “Kaya ngayon, saksi ang mga mahal natin sa buhay, gusto kong ipagsigawan sa buong mundo na ikaw ang sagot sa aking mga dasal."

He then brought out a ring and said, "I offer you this gift on your birthday, something that's beyond any material thing or tangible one. But I offer you myself, my love.”

A tearful Marian Rivera answered with a kiss and offered her hand to Dingdong.

Marian's mother and grandma, as well as Dingdong's family personally witnessed the proposal during the special birthday episode of Marian's self-titled dance show in the Kapuso network.

Screaming audience, mostly DongYan fans, appeared stunned by the 34-year-old actor's surprise act. The proposal also trended on Twitter.

Dingdong turned 34 last August 2, while Marian will turn 30 on August 12.

It was in 2007 when the power couple first worked together in the remake of Mexican soap opera "Marimar."

The two confirmed in early 2010 that they were officially a couple. Prior to their admission, the two was caught in a roller coaster of intrigues pointing at Marian as the cause of Dingdong and Karylle's breakup in 2008.

The TV royal couple have yet to announce the highly-anticipated wedding date.
