His and Yam’s romance, which started on the set of “Dugong Buhay,” reportedly lasted only five months (it ended in December 2013).

Family and lovelife

Is it true that Ejay can’t strike a balance between his family and love life?

“Noong time na iyon kasi, after “Dugong Buhay,” umuwi ako ng Mindoro. Parang ‘wow, marami pa akong obligasyon dito. Priority ko talaga yung family ko, yung trabaho ko. Siguro kung may darating man, mas natuto na ako sa nangyari sa amin.”

Ejay, a practicing Iglesia ni Cristo, denied religious differences caused the break-up. But he still hopes his next girlfriend will share his beliefs.

“Siguro hindi iyon ang pinaka-main reason, yung family ko talaga. Siguro darating yung time na alam kong magiging dahilan din iyon.”

Lessons learned

Yam and Ejay first denied speculations that they were an item. Ejay finally admitted it last April in an episode of  “Kris TV.”  Yam reportedly said Ejay wanted to hide the relationship for fear this would  affect their respective careers.

Now, Ejay has learned his lessons.  He shared that he will be more open about his next relationship.

Ejay denied he and Yam are reconciling just because they have settled their differences.

“Balikan (ni Yam)? Wala. Kung sino man ang magiging next girlfriend ko, or babalikan ko siya, aaminin ko na iyon. Makikita niyo na iyon, magho-holding hands kami nang naglalakad.”

Challenging role

Ejay feels honored to be part of MMK’s special episode, where he plays a man who returns to prison after helping his family at the height of typhoon Yolanda in  Tacloban.

He is gearing up for the upcoming teleserye “Pasion de Amor.”

“Pressured kasi napaka-special ng episode na ito. Kahit mahirap, ginawa namin ang lahat para mapaganda yung story. Yung mga preparations na ginawa ko dito, nagbasa ako ng mga news, then kwinento din sa akin ni Direk kung paano yung character in real life.”

MMK’s special episode airs on Saturday, November 15.  Directed by Garry Fernando, it also stars Sharmaine Arnaiz, Lito Pimentel and Art Acuña.
