Eula Caballero: From tears to laughter

Eula Caballero: Anything can make me laugh. I'm so easy to get along with because I can talk about anything/NPPA Images.

From making people cry, Kapatid artist Eula Caballero is now making them laugh.

As a cast member of  TV5’s newest sitcom, “One of the Boys,” Eula is getting the best advice on delivering punchlines from the show’s lead star, veteran funny man Joey de Leon.

“He's very easy to work with. And at the same time, while we're enjoying taping with him, we learn a lot from him. He teaches us how to memorize our scripts easily, inimpart niya talaga sa amin kung ano yung dapat gawin kapag comedy. Sabi ni Tito Joey, laruin lang namin. Don't be too stressed, huwag ma-pressure. Just play and have fun on the set,” Eula told the press during TV5’s Multimedia Convergence in AD Summit Pilipinas 2014 in Subic on Thursday, May 8.

Jolly personality

The 18-year-old actress adds that her new role matches her jolly personality.

“Anything can make me laugh. I'm so easy to get along with because I can talk about anything. I can go along with the humor of the boys. In real life naman, tayong mga Pinoy mahilig din tayong tumawa.”

Eula admits feeling stressed during the first airing of “One of the Boys”  because she is unsure of people’s reactions.

“Natatakot ako because I don't know how the viewers will respond to that kind of offering of TV5, na talagang may location and may story na sinusundan. After that, very fulfilling yung feedback ng mga tao.”

Pluses and minuses

In “One of the Boys,” Eula is paired with Juan Direction member Daniel Marsh. She noted that having different love teams in every project has its pluses and minuses (she has been paired with JC de Vera and David Archuleta).

“Kapag matagal na kayong magkasama, mas comfortable na kayo sa isa't isa. Mas malawak yung pwede ninyong gawin. And if may new partner, andoon talaga na you have to know the person and back to zero ka every project. You have to establish friendship and rapport. But at the same time, nasu-surprise ka pa rin with someone's work.”

Eula commends Filipino-Irish lead actor Daniel for being well-versed in Filipino culture.

“I thought before Dan is a typical Irish, na they have this certain humor. Pero nakaka-amaze na yung humor niya pala is very Filipino na. It gives me an opportunity to learn more (about other culture). May bago akong source of knowledge and it's nice to work with a new partner din on-screen.”

"One of the Boys” airs on TV5 every Saturday at 9 PM.
