Eula Caballero says she still has a lot to prove

Among the home-grown artists of TV5, it is Eula Cabellero who is probably among the luckiest. Besides starring in two primetime shows on the Kapatid network, she’s also had the honor of working with some of the country’s biggest stars—an immense accomplishment for any 16-year-old actress who has only been in the industry for less than a year.

In the mini-series “Sa Ngalan Ng Ina,” Eula starred with the Superstar Nora Aunor. In the movie “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” she played Maricel Soriano’s daughter.

David's leading lady

And in the upcoming Kapatid TV5 mini-series “Nandito Ako,” Eula will be one of the leading ladies of international singer-songwriter David Archuleta.

But while she sees these as accomplishments, Eula believes she still has a lot to prove in the industry.

“Ang dami ko pang kailangang gawin. Hindi ko alam kung kailangan ko matatawag na sikat na ako. Pero ngayon masasabi ko na artista na ako dahil nakatrabaho ko sila,” the 18-year-old actress said in a press conference recently.

Is she more confident as an actress since she’s worked with some of the biggest names in the industry?

“Ang mind-set ko is, right now na marami na akong nakatrabaho, artista na ako now so kailangan kong gawin ang trabaho ko. I worked for this so I have to give my best. Pero, hindi ko masyadong naiisip yung kasikatan as of now,” Eula explained.

She added, “Ang kasikatan naman, hindi naman yan pag-artista ka papasok na agad. Hindi naman pag artista ka, sikat ka na. So wala pa yun sa isip ko.”

Huge fan

Eula admitted that she’s a huge fan of David even before she found out he’ll be a TV5 artist.

“I know a lot of his songs, alam ko na magmi-mission sya. So nung nalaman ko, hindi ako naniwala kasi alam kong magmi-mission sya, aalis for two years for his religion,” she narrated.

Prior to the official announcement that David will star in a TV5 mini-series, the “American Idol” alum said he’ll leave music for two years to do a two-year missionary work for The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.

Eula added, “Nung nalaman ko na totoo talaga, syempre sobrang kilig ko… I was at home tapos sobrang tumili talaga ako. Hindi naman OA, pero kinilig ako syempre.”

To prepare for the show, David, Eula, and “Nandito Ako” co-star Jasmine Curtis-Smith did an acting workshop with Gina Alajar.

What does she expect from “Nandito Ako”?

“I expect for the whole taping to be really fun. Kasi may mga fans sya from Venezuela, Vietnam, Malaysia na nagtwe-tweet sa akin na David likes this, David likes that. And then sabi nila he’s a really nice person. Mahiyain lang sa umpisa pero sobrang kalog nyan,” she said. “I hope it’s gonna be fun.”
