Thai actor Mario Maurer to topbill Star Cinema film

Here’s good news for Thai actor Mario Maurer’s fans in the Philippines.  They will soon see their idol on the big screen and in the flesh, since the 2008 Cinemanila International Film Festival  Best Actor (for “The Love of Siam”)  will be making a movie for Star Cinema and will hold a fan conference here.

Negotiations are now being made for the movie, in time for his arrival in the country next month.

“Yes, there is a (movie) deal.  But details – like the genre of the movie and Mario’s leading lady plus other co-stars – have yet to be ironed out,” Star Cinema Advertising and Promotions Managing Director Roxy Liquigan told Yahoo! Philippines OMG!

He added that shooting of the movie could be in Manila and Mario’s native Bangkok.

Mario, the new face of Penshoppe, will also promote the clothing brand when he arrives in October.  He is expected to meet his fans just like his predecessor, Ed Westwick of “Gossip Girl” fame,  who was in Manila early this year.

The fan conference, set Oct. 28 at the PICC Plenary Hall, will be hosted by VJ Utt and will feature a performance by Pan-Asian group Blush.

The 22-year-old actor has shown his excitement in visiting the country through his replies to  Filipino fans via Twitter. He always tweets that he’s coming here next month to meet Filipino fans.

In an interview with “The Buzz,” Mario has also shown interest in doing a movie in the Philippines.

“If I have a chance to do a movie or a role in the Philippines [that] would be very great,” Mario said in “The Buzz” interview.
