Pinoy rock artist and painter Heber Bartolome is opening an art exhibit-cum-fundraiser for a cause tonight February 20 at his residence on No. 170 Banlat Road in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

The events aims to raise funds for visual artist Hermi Santo’s coronary angioplasty to remove plaque that restricts the flow of blood to the heart.

Various sketches and paintings by Hermi and Heber will be on show.

Featured artists and opening night

The work of other artists like Fil Delacruz, Pandy Aviado, Lito Mayo, Onib, Edd Aragon, Santi Bose, Gus Albor and Noel Aguila, among others, will be featured.

Proceeds of the art sale will help defray Hermi's medical bills.

A folk rock concert on opening night will feature Resty Fabunan, Heber’s group Banyuhay, Edgar Opida, Mon Laqui, Arnel Dayrit, Edgar Flores, and John Metrio.

4-in-1 event

Heber Bartolome is a founding member of Banyuhay whose main claim to OPM fame is the classic silent protest anthem, “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy,” back in the Martial Law 70s.

The angioplasty procedure costs between P200,000 to P2 million depending on the complications of the heart disease and the surgery involved.

On his Facebook, Heber called the show “a 4-in-1 event for a friend.” In addition to the exhibit, concert and art sale, today also marks the 64th birthday of Hermi.

Running till April

The exhibit on Thursday, February 20, opens at 6:00 pm. It’s open to the public free of charge.

The art show runs from February 20 to April 12, 2014.

When not attending to occasional engagements with the music and arts community, Heber keeps busy with his free songwriting workshop.
