Frequently asked questions about OMG! Awards 2013

(UPDATE) Since we launched the 2013 OMG! Awards, your support has been overwhelming! Thank you to the hundreds of thousands who voted early for their favorites—and we’ve only just begun!

We also took note of the questions you asked on social media and on the comments sections of our OMG! Awards stories. So, to put your mind at ease, here are our answers to your frequently asked questions.

1. What is Yahoo! OMG! Awards?

OMG! Awards is the hottest celebrity awards show in the Philippines powered by fans. The annual celebration recognizes the achievement of local celebrities in the field of TV, movies, radio and music. These celebrities were nominated based on being the most-searched on Yahoo! Philippines. Thus, said Yahoo! Philippines country manager and country editor Kate de los Reyes, “The Yahoo! OMG! Awards is our way of giving back to our users by offering them a platform to support and rally behind their favorite stars.” The fact that the readers of Yahoo! Philippines have been given the power to choose their favorite celebrities makes the OMG! Awards unique because we recognize the role of fans in the success of our local artists.

2. Why is Yahoo! OMG! Awards relevant?

Yahoo! OMG! Awards is an annual celebration of Filipino talent. If people appreciate K-Pop and western music, why not celebrate and recognize our own local celebrities?

3. How can I vote for my favorite stars?

There are four ways to make your vote count.

  • Online voting

Online, you can vote once a day per category. Just visit our OMG! Awards page, choose a category, click on the poll and your vote will be counted.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Don’t forget to sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account before you vote.

  • SMS voting

If you can't go online to vote, don't fret! You can also vote via SMS.

To get details on how to vote, simply type OMG HELP and send to 2910.

To be more specific you can see all the KEYWORDS here.

[Type OMG [space] CATEGORY [space] letter of your choice then send to 2910]

Example: Let’s say you want to vote for Jessica Mendoza as OMG! Female Radio DJ. Simply check the KEYWORDS column, where the KEYWORD for Female Radio DJ is OMG FEMALEDJ, and Jessica corresponds to the letter “A.”

Therefore, your SMS should read: OMG FEMALEDJ A then, send it to 2910.

Each text vote costs Php1.00.

SMS voting is open to all networks in the Philippines. For our Kababayans overseas, even if you are using a Philippine sim card, your sms votes will not be counted. Please vote online, via smartphone and via feature phone.

The voting period is from June 4 to July 12, 2013.

This SMS voting is powered by the Entertainment Gateway Group Inc. (EGG).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Just like our online voting, you can only vote once a day per category using your smartphones. Don't forget to log in to your Yahoo! mail account before you vote!

  • Vote using your feature phones!

Since we want to give everyone more opportunities to rally behind your fave celebrities, we're happy to announce that you can also vote using your feature phones!

Just go to Vote once a day per category!

3. How will we know who's leading the poll?

Our voting system is very transparent—as soon as you cast your votes online, you can already see how the nominees are faring. You will see the real-time results of votes in percentage format. Expect percentages to change depending on the number of votes the nominees get.

If you've already voted and you just want to see who's leading, you can do that, too!  Simply click on the "See results" link.

4. When will we know the exact number of votes?

We will reveal the final tally of votes during the OMG! Awards night on July 19, 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Online, SMS and smartphone votes will be added to determine the winners.

5. We want to attend the awards night. How and where can we claim the tickets?

Tickets are available for FREE at any SM Cinema outlet. (You're welcome!) Just present a valid ID to claim the tickets. You can also get additional tickets by showing the OMG!
