'Furious 7' becomes most successful film ever in China

Paul Walker in 'Furious 7'

"Furious 7" has become the top-grossing film ever in China, speeding past "Transformers 4" as the film brought in a total of $324 million after 15 days of release.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction" had shattered all prior records in China when it became the best box officer performer in 2014, bringing in a total $319 million.

But now the car-heist drama starring the late Paul Walker has crossed the key two-billion threshold in the local yuan currency, making it the most successful film in Chinese history, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Worldwide, the film has brought in $1.3 billion, making it the fifth highest-grossing film in history.
