Gabby Douglas, Dianna Agron and Sarah Hyland in Nintendo's 'Play As You Are' campaign

Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, Glee's art-loving actress Dianna Agron, and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland are all on board for the latest Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL commercials.

Though one might expect Nintendo to focus steadfastly on November's Wii U, a replacement for the six-year old Wii, its latest marketing campaign is actually all about the handheld 3DS and its super-sized cousin the 3DS XL.

Starting October 1, Douglas's gold-winning activities are to continue in clips for the coin-collecting New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Agron, who is Glee's Quinn Fabray, is to front ads for both Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! and mystery puzzle Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.

Hyland's fashion sense will be put to good use in spots for Style Savvy: Trendsetters and Sparkle Snapshots 3D.

All but August release New Super Mario Bros. 2 are to debut throughout the month. The Art Academy title leads on October 1, Sparkle Snapshots 3D comes on October 18, there's Style Savvy: Trendsetters on October 22 and Professor Layton's latest rounds out the month on October 28.

Sony's PlayStation Vita has a quieter beginning to the month, but only because fans will likely be well occupied with September's expedition into communal creativity, LittleBigPlanet PS Vita.

The Vita faithful can then look forward to engrossing role-playing adventure Persona 4: Golden and a small screen conversion of Street Fighter X Tekken on October 23, with Assassin's Creed III: Liberation the following week.

Both portables have Lego Lord of the Rings to close out October.
