Gaming apps top the list as APUS releases global report

Chaperoned dating apps are on the rise in conservative Asian cultures

They made up 32 percent of the most popular Android apps in Beijing-based start-up APUS's report on global mobile applications, published on Monday.

Second in the ranking were communications category applications, which comprised 19 percent of the most popular apps.

Not far behind were tools and utility apps, which made up 13 percent of the most popular.

Social networking apps came in, somewhat surprisingly, in fourth place, comprising 11 percent of the most popular apps.
