Gary clarifies Charice's 'management' rumor

Gary Valenciano is always willing to help fellow “X-Factor Philippines” judge Charice in her local career. But he denied that his company, Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management Inc. is managing her.

“Actually that's the rumor because nga naging close kami ni Charice, but no. We will help her when she's in Manila if she needs our help,” Gary said at the press launch of his newest album “Gary V Sings: Just For You” on Wednesday, November 14.

He added that his fellow judges, Martin Nievera  and Pilita Corrales are also always there for Charice “more like a friend,” she can get advice from.

It will be recalled that Charice parted with long-time manager Grace Mendoza.  The singer has assigned Courtney Blooding as her “new point of contact” instead.

“I think managing her in the Philippines we can definitely help out. But I'm sure because of her experience and because of her management there also, she will always travel with somebody from there at 'yung kakausap sa amin ay 'yung kasama niyang nanggaling doon. Hindi si Charice mismo. If Charice will come to us, 'Tito, ano kaya ang pwede kong gawin' that's not management. That's more like developing the artist more than management,” Gary said.

His wife Angeli, who heads Genesis, has also always been vocal about supporting Charice.

“I think with Angeli, she mentioned na if she comes to Manila na sana we're always around for her, and that's no doubt,” he said.

Happy for Zendee

Meanwhile, Gary answered critics who said he and fellow judges should have passed Youtube sensation Zendee Rose Tenerefe when she auditioned for “The X Factor Philippines.”

“Maybe the song that she did wasn't as impressive as what she did to get her into where she is now. Iba-ibang vehicles iyan. Ang sinakyan niya siguro sa “X Factor” ay jeep, pero 'yung sinakyan niyang bus for whatever, iyon ang talagang made her gain the popularity,” Gary explained.

Zendee became talk of the town after a YouTube video of her as “Random Girl went viral and landed her a guest stint in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Gary is “very happy” for Zendee.

"As a matter of fact, I wanna see more of her because she will be used as my example, (like) X Factor is one vehicle, but there are many, many other opportunities."

Album dedicated to Angeli

Gary’s latest album “Gary V: Sings Just For You,”  started as a Christmas gift to Angeli, also his manager for the past seven years. It contains her favorite songs which Gary recorded for her.

“Noong nag-meeting kami this year about ideas for a brand new album for Universal Records, sabi niya (Angeli) narinig mo 'yung mga kantang ni-record mo para sa akin, many of them are the same. Sabi ko, 'But Angeli that was just for you,’” Gary said.

The album contains ten  classic favorites like “Somewhere Down the Road,” “It Might Be You,” “Send in the Clowns,” “Just Once,” “What Matters Most,” the carrier single “In Your Eyes” and “Overjoyed,” where Gary collaborated with AKA Jam.

Gary’s album launch will be held at The Venice Piazza on November 16 and at the Eastwood Mall on November 17.
