'General Hospital' leads Daytime Emmy nominations

The ABC show goes into April's award ceremony with 9 nominations, one ahead of CBS's "The Young and the Restless."

Along with "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "Days of Our Lives," "General Hospital" and "The Young and the Restless," the quartet dominated category nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, those for Lead, Supporting and Younger actors and actresses, as well as the Writing and Directing honors.

Other multiple nominees included Spanish language talk show "El Gordo y la Flaca," which picked up a nom for Outstanding Entertainment Program in Spanish, while its hosts filled all three available slots for Outstanding Daytime Talent in Spanish.

Culinary shows "Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics" and "The Mind of a Chef," talk shows "Live! with Kelly and Michael," "The Talk" and "The Wendy Williams Show," and game show "Family Feud" emerged from the nominations announcement late on March 31st with two apiece.

The 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards winners will be announced on April 26, 2015.
