Ginta Lapina: Marc Jacobs inspires me

Ginta Lapina says Marc Jacobs is one of the most “inspirational people” in the world.

The model appears on the Diet Coke can design which Marc came up with, in his latest role as creative director for the soft drink.

She was thrilled to be asked to get involved, not least because she has so much time for the designer.

“It was an amazing experience to be involved in such a big project, especially because it’s the 30 year celebration of Diet Coke and in collaboration with Marc Jacobs,” she gushed. “He has always been one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met and I was so honoured that I was the one he chose to be a part of such an artistic and fun project!”

Ginta got her big break in Riga, Latvia, when she was approached by an agent while with her mother. At first she didn’t expect anything to come of the discussion, but after taking part in her first shoot she was hooked.

The model enjoys transforming herself for her job; in part because she sees it as an extension of the theatre work she’s always loved. She views modelling as a highly artistic job, which is why she never thinks of the clothes or make-up she sports as wacky.

“It’s a hard question, because it could be any beauty look that you see me wearing for a show or editorial,” she replied to modelinia.com, when asked about the craziest beauty look she’s ever been given. “It really all depends what you consider to be the line between extreme and normal. For me, I accept any beauty look as is and try to become a character, so I never think of it as extreme; it’s just part of being creative.”
