Google+ trends: Piers Morgan's TV debate, steampunk

On Thursday, January 10, Google+ users are are continuing to discuss the now-famous TV debate between Piers Morgan and Alex Jones. 

British journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan, who hosts "Piers Morgan Tonight" on CNN in the US, caused controversy after making pro-gun control comments on his show. A petition with more than 100,000 signatures was then sent to the White House calling for his deportation. Following the submission of the petition, Morgan invited radio talk show host and firearms advocate Alex Jones, who was instrumental in the petition, on his TV show.

The two men debated on air on January 7, and videos of the televised debate were uploaded by numerous YouTube users and quickly went viral, some copies attracting several million views. Watch one video at: youtube.com/watch?&v=AtyKofFih8Y 

Elsewhere, Google+ users are sharing pictures they have taken using photo editing and sharing service Instagram and creations that characterize steampunk, a wide ranging sub-genre of science fiction encompassing art, literature and fashion that is inspired by the concept of early Western industrialized civilization transported into a post-apocalyptic future.
