OMG! Exclusive - Hanson shouts out even louder

(UPDATE) The first time we saw them perform live in the Philippines, they were just boys with wide-eyed looks and high-pitched voices. Today, Isaac, Taylor and Zac of the Hanson band have all matured, with families of their own.

But the passion for music has only grown over time.

“Our primary influences are the same-–classic, R&B,soul, rock n roll-–but our ability as musicians and performers has improved,” the trio told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! in an email interview.

The brothers cite their albums as examples. These, they agree, “sound richer” and “carry more dimension.”

More to share

Yes, like  wine that tastes better with age, the brothers have more to share with Filipino fans when the band comes over for their “Shout It Out” tour on Friday, March 30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and Saturday, March 31 at the Waterfront Cebu Hotel.  Both shows start 8 p.m.

The band celebrates challenges in their new album, “Shout It Out,” which the brothers describe as “soulful pop.”

Challenges, the Hansons chorus, are a fact of life, a reason to move forward. And move forward they do, their experience as music artists of 20 years solidly behind them.

Two decades have given the band the privilege and the right to enjoy more creative freedom. And exercise this right they do as independent album producers who can choose the songs what songs they will perform and how they will render them.

Not for them the pressure of following the crowd.  The band is past the stage of letting others lead the way.  It’s about time they chart their own destiny as a three-time Grammy nominee.

In their own terms

“We were caught up in a series of record company mergers which left us without a good partner and we decided we would prefer to build out own company in response to those changes,” the band recalls how it took its first few steps as independent recording artists. “There were many challenges but we cannot imagine doing it another way.”

So it pulled all the stops in presenting its new music to the world.  Hanson.net was born. This year, the band’s 20th in the business, Hanson promises to a lot of livestreaming events to keep fans in the loop.

“It’s challenging to keep up a profile around the world all the time,” the band reveals.

The challenge  gets bigger and bigger as Hanson keeps up with a younger market and new  players in the music scene

Hanson-–with its new songs to sing and rhythms to play-–seems ready for the big battle that lies ahead.
