Hawaii film festival settles the score

The Big Island Film Festival has just wrapped up in Hawaii

The US Pacific island state has selected Frank Hall Green's "Wildlike," -- based in the frozen tundras of Alaska -- for the Best Feature Prize at its Big Island Film Festival, it was announced Wednesday.

Directed by Canada’s O. Corbin Saleken, “Patterson’s Wager” was given the nod as the best foreign feature.

“Under the Blood Red Sun,” directed by Tim Savage, in which two teenage friends recall their experiences during the days surrounding the attack on Pearl Harbor, won for best family feature.

Jack Niedenthal's “Jilel – The Calling of the Shell,” won the festival's Barbara Award. The story follows a young Marshallese girl as she strives to protect an ancient family heirloom.
