Fil-Am musician Brad Go met a girl, dated her, but did not get the happy ending he was hoping.

But the experience led him to initiate the Hush Project in 2013: a country-hopping journey where he interviewed people about their thoughts on love, and then wrote songs about it.

Those songs now make up his debut album under MCA Music Philippines.

The pop-rock debut from the 28-year old singer-songwriter also references his blog “Have U Seen Her,” which chronicled his times the girl who broke his heart, whom he met in New York one rainy night in 2012.

"We started dating and although it didn't work out, I was inspired to travel around the world in search of credible stories to use as inspiration for my album," he said.

Change-maker

Brad went to Barcelona, Melbourne, Palermo, Berlin, Paris and Manila, where he interviewed his lone surviving grandparent who talked about her devotion to his grandpa.

He also flew to Tokyo where he interacted with an interracial couple, inspiring him to write "I Want You Now,” the album’s carrier single.

Brad, who is also a freelance video director, shared, “My journey towards becoming a musician began in 2005 when I decided to drop out of Aerospace Engineering program and eventually transfer to New York University to study film. I realized I was one of the many people trying to make it and wanted to make a change.”

MCA Music domestic label marketing manager Mark Bonifacio explained why they cottoned on to Brad. “He’s the complete package; he sings, writes, plays instruments, produces songs, and makes his own videos. It’s hard to find such a multifaceted artist these days.”

A love song in every city

Complete with a booklet chronicling his travels, "The HUSH Project" contains Brad’s originals with notes on which city the tunes originated. Thus, "All Along" is revealed to have been penned as a result of his visit to Barcelona where he met David, a guy “who met his girlfriend (of 10 years), Francesca, through his brother who used to date her.”

As for the other tracks, "It's You" was written in Melbourne; "Follow Through" in Singapore; "Firestarter" in Palermo, Italy; "Feel This Way" in Berlin; "Love Is Love" in Manila and "Time Machine" in Paris. The ninth song is a bonus track called "Carry You Home.”

Though he now resides elsewhere, he’s kept in touch with his Pinoy roots. “A lot of my musical influences come from what my parents were karaoke-ing as I was growing up. I love the classics.”

Asked what he learned from the experience, he said, “It was the most incredible adventure I could have asked for. I loved watching everyone’s face light up as they shared their stories.”
