Holly Madison: Breastfeeding is biggest challenge

Holly Madison confesses she is “surprised at how much work” breastfeeding actually entails.

The 33-year-old former Girls Next Door star and her boyfriend Pasquale Rotella welcomed daughter Rainbow on March 5.

Nourishing her infant is much more difficult than Holly ever anticipated.

“Breastfeeding is the biggest challenge,” she told People magazine.

“I took classes — and I don’t want to discourage anyone from nursing — but I’m surprised at how much work it is and how much you’re on call. I’m happy to do it since it’s healthy for my baby.”

Holly claims she was also fully unprepared for the reality of motherhood.

Although the model “did her research”, no amount of knowledge got her ready for the major responsibility of being a parent.

“It’s a 24-hour thing, as any new mom knows,” Holly said.

“I was as prepared as I could be and [I'm still learning] how time-consuming it is.”

Holly decided to call her daughter Rainbow for a reason dear to her heart.

She previously revealed that the colourful name stuck with her since childhood.

“I wanted to give my daughter a unique name,” she told E! News recently.

“Growing up, there was a girl in my school named Rainbow and I was so envious of that name. I thought it was so pretty and unique!”
