How Matteo won Sarah's heart
The key to winning a girl’s heart – especially in the Philippines – is still her family.
Ask Matteo Guidicelli, who has the sparkling eyes and ready smile of a man in love with Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo.
“In any relationship, it’s important to be close to the parents of the person you love. Positive ang environment you are working on,” he said in an interview after the story conference of Shake Rattle and Roll XV, Flight 666 episode, Regal Entertainnment’s entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
Not an easy courtship
Matteo, who is working with Lovi Poe for the first time in the film, admits winning Sarah’s heart was not easy. He courted her for months.
“There were lots of challenges. But I didn’t let it affect me because Sarah is worth it.”
Thanks to Sarah, Matteo is learning how to cook. His loving girlfriend appreciates his efforts and, according to Matteo, finds his first kitchen experiment “yummy.”
“So far okay naman,” Matteo beams.
Down-to-earth
The athlete-turned-actor can’t stop singing Sarah’s praises.
“There are so many things people don’t know about her. She’s amazing!”
He is learning a lot from Sarah’s down-to-earth ways.
“Sarah reminds me to stay grounded and keep things simple. When you’re with her, you don’t even think she’s a superstar. Kapag kasama ko siya sa isang table, it never hit me that she is a big star. Pag nakikita ko siya sa TV,nagugulat ako na girlfriend ko siya.”
Work-out clothes
Matteo admitted buying Sarah a set of work-out clothes recently because she wants to keep fit.
“Nakakatuwa. She asks questions on working out, nutrition and food. I share what I know with her.”
Almost two weeks before she marks her 26h birthday on Friday, July 25, Matteo is ready with his gift for Sarah. Just what it is, Matteo refuses to reveal. All he can say is that he will surely have something special for Sarah, even if she will be spending her birthday at work.
Trust is the key
The secret to their strong relationship?
“Trust. When a woman says ‘I trust you,” it’s just like saying I love you.’
His advice to those who want to win the heart of the woman of their dreams?
“If you love someone, go for it. Don’t let anybody stop you from loving someone!”
Take it from Matteo. He took the challenge and passed the test with flying colors.
