How Rhian relates to her 'sossy' role

While she admits her rich, bratty role in the movie “Sossy Problems” can get into anyone’s nerves, Rhian Ramos says she can also relate well to her character.

Rhian once again joins the Metro Manila Film Festival with this year’s GMA Film’s entry “Sossy Problems,” which also topbills Heart Evangelista, Bianca King and Solenn Heussaff. She plays the role of Lizzy, which Rhian describes as a rich, very bossy girl.

“Nakakairita ako dito, walang nagkakagusto sa akin. Ganoong level,” said about her role during the press set visit.

She added, “Ako yung pinakamayaman and pinaka-bossy and pinakamaarte and pinaka-walang alam na gawin. Tapos yung problem ko dito, napaka-bossy ko talaga to the point na pati yung mga tao na usually yung family na never kang iiwan. Yung family and friends mo, sila na mismo yung naiirita sa akin.”

Talking about her “sossy” or rich girl’s problem, Rhian shared that her character is used to getting what she always wants, thus she can’t manage when things don’t go according to her plan. Rhian also said that “Lizzy” is different from her snobbish role in “My Kontrabida Girl.”

“The moment na hindi na niya nakuha, doon na nagsisimula yung problema na parang hindi niya ma-handle. Parang wala siyang capability na ganun na meron tayo. Parang pag narinig nating, ‘No!’ ibang choice na yung gagawin natin. Pero yung sa kanya,‘Hindi. Ito yung gusto ko,’” she said.

On valuing family

Rhian shared that she can relate well to her character, in terms of realizing how important family is more than the material things.

“Matutuo siyang mamuhay ng mas simple. Makikita niya kung ano yung tunay na importance ng kapag wala yung pera, kapag tinalikuran ka ng ibang tao. Actually, doon ako nakaka-relate, kapag tinalikuran ka na ng ibang tao, yung pamilya talaga yung andoon. Iyon yung pinaka-importante,” she said.

Rhian also talked about how she cherishes spending quality time with her family, as well as with her new boyfriend, KC Montero.

“Right now, yung perfect balance kasi na matagal ko nang gustong i-achieve na ngayon ko lang talaga na-achieve andito na. Yung trabaho, I get to spend time with my family na nothing’s a problem, I have a love life,” she said.

Life imitates art?

Rhian admitted that she would sometimes unintentionally imbibe her role as Lizzy. She recounted one moment when she went to the set of “Party Pilipinas” wearing shades and didn’t even put on a smile.

“Pag pasok ko sa “Party P” na naka-shades, tapos yung face ko, hindi ako naka-smile. Belle Daza (asked), ‘Are you okay?’ Sabi ko, ‘No it’s just kasi during the day I’m working and then at night, I go out. It’s so tiring because I have friends here and I’m taking them out,’” she said.

“Na-realize ko na nasasanay ako sa character ko. Siguro pagkatapos ng movie na ito, kailangan ko siguro mag-workshop para mawala itong character. Ayokong dumikit,” Rhian said.
