Iya not in a hurry to get married

Although the couple has been together for over seven years, Iya Villania said she and longtime boyfriend Drew Arellano are not in a hurry to tie the knot.

“Seven years na kami together and we have no plans of heading towards the direction of breaking up. So saan pa ba ang direksyon namin? That would be marriage. But we’re not there yet,” she told members of the press during a re-launch of a slimming product last week.

Iya explained that while marriage is important to her, “it won’t make us love each other any less if we don’t get married now.”

“It’s there. But there’s no deadline... It’s a title, it’s a formality. But we’re really in no rush,” she said.

However, the 25-year-old actress-host said she plans to settle down by age 30. Drew is 31 years old.

No problem with Drew

Are there things she still wants to accomplish before she decides to tie the knot with the Kapuso host?

“I’d want to be able to perform and tour and that’s something I still dream of. I also want to become successful in something outside of the industry, something to do with business, or restaurants, or clothing,” Iya said. “I might be able to start on that next year.”

She added that Drew is confident enough with his age and his health to wait for her.

“Kung may problema sa kanya, e di maghahanap na lang siguro sya ng iba, di ba?” she quipped.

Turning serious, Iya said: “I really want to be with him. And we’re both willing to wait. More than anything, siya yung nag-iintay kasi he’s older... Masaya kami. Happier than ever.”
