James Bond, the books, from reissues to e-books

The James Bond series of novels by Ian Fleming have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. With the 50th anniversary of the Bond films in October, the British spy as stylish action hero will be celebrated in print, from the original volumes being re-released to audio and e-books versions, and new books reviewing the history of 007.

Paperback reissues
Vintage Classics will launch a retro version of the classic Ian Fleming books aiming to appeal to fans of the literary legacy of James Bond. Fourteen volumes, from Goldfinger and The Man with the Golden Gun to Casino Royale will be released August 2 worldwide (excluding North America). Also a contemporary edition intends to introduce a new generation to the thrillers on September 6.

In North America, Amazon Publishing's mystery and thriller imprint, Thomas & Mercer, a division of the online retail giant, acquired the rights to the 14 books and begins releasing them to Kindle over the summer.

The James Bond Omnibus Volume 003
The graphic novels/comic books of Jim Lawrence and illustrator Yaroslav Horak, based on the stories of Ian Fleming's 007 superspy. This collection, released in April, includes The Harpies, River of Death, The Golden Ghost, Double Jeopardy, Kingsley Amis' controversial post-Fleming tale Colonel Sun, and more.

James Bond Unmasked
Film journalist Bill Desowitz chronicles the 50 years of superspy Bond in movies, from the Cold War of the 1960s to the current post-9/11 era, through the longest film franchise. Includes interviews with all six Bond actors -- Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig -- including a new interview with Sean Connery. Released May 9 by Spies Publishing.

Ian Fleming audio books
The launch of 12 classic Bond novels will be read by distinguished British actors in unabridged audio recordings in collaboration with Ian Fleming Publications, including Moonraker read by Bill Nighy, Diamonds Are Forever by Damian Lewis, Goldfinger by Hugh Bonneville, The Spy Who Loved Me read by Rosamund Pike, and The Man with the Golden Gun read by Kenneth Branagh. Available for pre-orders August 1 and for purchase September 6 from AudioGO from BBC Audiobooks.

James Bond: 50 Years of Movie Posters
From 1962's Dr. No to 2012's Skyfall, this guide, written by Bond production designer Dennis Gassner, provides a comprehensive visual collection of James Bond movie posters. Featuring a look at rare images and concept artwork, lobby cards from various countries, and two exclusive prints. To be released September 3 by DK Publishing.

Bond on Bond
From British actor Roger Moore, who played James Bond 1973-85, the longest of any actor, this new book releases October 4. Looking at 50 years of Bond, from his suave and amusing depiction of the character, Moore will take the stage around the UK to discuss his films from Live and Let Die to A View to a Kill.

The Music of James Bond
Written by Jon Burlingame, this book tells the behind-the-scenes musical adventures of Bond films, from the scores of John Barry and controversy over the theme ownership to pop stars who sang the signature songs, such as Tom Jones, Louis Armstrong, Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, and Madonna. Anecdotes include tales about Eric Clapton and Amy Winehouse. To be released October 25.
