James Reid is no longer as wary of showbiz as he used to be.

“Gusto ko talaga umarte. I wanna act. I wanna do it for a long time,”  the 21-year-old actor shared at the press conference of his new movie with Nadine Lustre, “Talk Back and You’re Dead” at The Library in Ortigas on Thursday, August 14.

Thus, James wants to take care of his career, especially after his movie, "Diary ng Panget," became a hit.

Role model

“I’m taking care of my image more because I’m under public scrutiny all the time. I try my best to be a role model.”

While his voice is still soft during interviews, James said he has become more self-assured.

“Mas confident ako ngayon. I was so shy before, even until now, especially to people I don’t really know very well."

James – whose mother is Filipina and whose dad is Australian --  is proud he now speaks better Filipino.

“They gave me Tagalog lessons for two months straight.”

Advice to PBB  housemates

As a former PBB housemate, James advises the “All In” housemates to be true to themselves.

“When I was still there, I was just being myself and being real. I guess, dream big. Before, I never dreamed big. Now it’s something I strive for.”

James reunites with “Diary ng Panget” co-star Nadine Lustre  in the new movie “Talk Back and You’re Dead.”

And while they are close, James denies something more than friendship exists between him and Nadine.

“We’re just focused on work and not really thinking about relationships or anything. On the set, we’re really close.”

More kissing scenes

James says he has a lot of kissing scenes with Nadine in the movie,, which is based on a popular Wattpad novel.

"She’s (Nadine) a good kisser,”  notes James.

“Talk Back and You’re Dead,” which opens in cinemas on August 20, also stars Joseph Marco and Yassi Pressman.
