“I loved him. Our love was one-of-a-kind. We spent almost every day together. My only regret was we should have ended civilly or as friends. I bumped into him sometimes pero deadma lang,” Ericka said at the press conference of her new movie “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig” on Thursday night, October 30.

Ericka revealed that it was James who initiated the split. It was hard for Ericka but she understands James’ decision because he would like to focus more on his career and help his family.

Very simple guy

“At first, very emotional. But I accepted it because I know he’s not doing this for himself, but for his family. He never wanted the fame, the attention, he’s a very simple guy.”

She added, “James and I always had this fantasy to ourselves, na in the future, we can still end up together. I would say na he’s my soul mate. He also feels the same way with me. That’s why he wanted to save it. It came from him na he wanted to save it.”

Aside from their breakup, Ericka also has to deal with bashers.

No third party

“It was hard, having a lot of bashers and keeping quiet about our relationship. I also don’t want to interfere with their (James and on screen partner Nadine Lustre's) movie, but at the same time, I wish I was there for him but nag-break kami.”

Ericka clarified that no third party – least of all Nadine--  was involved in their breakup.

“Si Nadine, right after ng breakup namin, we talked through Twitter pa. She consoled me and said ne she’s there for me. She was very nice about it,” Ericka recalled.

Ericka will even support James and Nadine if they take their on screen romance off screen.

Nice and down-to-earth

“I honestly would not mind if it were Nadine. When I met her, she was very nice and down-to-earth just like James. Kung gusto ni James, then it’s up to them.”

Ericka, who used to sing with her sister Krissy, is making her acting debut in “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig,” which also stars Inigo Pascual, Sofia Andres and Julian Estrada.

The movie opens November 12 in  cinemas nationwide.
