Janice on ABS-CBN comeback: I feel important

The warm welcome she got from everybody in ABS-CBN, where she is doing the TV drama “Budoy”, makes Janice de Belen feel very important.

“I told everybody in ABS-CBN na I didn’t expect this kind of project. I didn’t expect this kind of warm welcome. Pagdating dito, akala ko it would be just another project. But, I felt important,” Janice said at the “Budoy” press screening at The Podium on Friday night, October 7.

She added,  “It made the comeback to ABS-CBN better, really better. From the directors, kila Gerald, everybody, talagang wow. I’m very happy.”

Janice plays lead star Gerald Anderson’s mother. Others in the cast are  Tirso Cruz III, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Mylene Dizon, Barbara Perez and Christian Vasquez.

Initially worried

Janice admits she was initially worried about striking a good rapport with Gerald snce they don’t know each other well.

“Syempre, I was very skeptical nung una. Very worried. Lalo na sa amin ni Gerald because we have many scenes together. Ang worry ko is about our rapport. I know nothing about him, except  what I read and see on TV. And he also doesn’t know anything about me, definitely,” Janice admits.

But Janice and Gerald easily warmed up to each other. During the press screening, Janice and Gerald’s moving scenes as mother and son touched members of media.

Working again wth ABS-CBN makes Janice very excited and inspires her to give her all as an actress.

New environment

"Excited ako kasi bagong environment. May kakaibang excitement. Parang bago lahat ulit, umpisa ulit. In other words, pakitang gilas ka ulit," she said in a separate interview during a press set visit last Wednesday at San Juan Gym.

Since she is currently hosting another show in another network, Janice noted that she doesn’t have any exclusive contract.

"Wala naman akong problema pagdating sa ganyan. Mahirap din akong maging exclusive dahil I have Spoon, which is on another network,” she added.

Janice noted that a contract doesn’t necessarily reflect one’s loyalty.

"But then, hindi mo naman ako kailangang papirmahin sa papel para sabihin ko na loyal ako. Kasi, while I'm working here, I'll be working with them,” Janice quipped.

Other shows?

Will people get to see Janice in other shows as well?

"I don’t have a final answer. All I know is that I'm enjoying and I'm having a good time now,” she answered.

Janice noted that there would be no problem working with another channel since she s not bound by an exclusive contract.

“Budoy,” an advocacy-serye, premieres in ABS-CBN starting October 10.
