Independence comes at the right time for Jasmine Curtis. The Kapatid actress is slowly moving out of super popular sister Anne Curtis’s shadow and now lives in a new place she can call her own.

"I’ve been living there for around a month already,” Jasmine told Yahoo Philippines during the commercial shoot of Pond’s, one of her many endorsements.

No, it’s not rebellion. The 20-year-old actress looks at it as a good way of putting her hard-earned money to good use, a gift of sorts for all the work she’s done since entering showbiz in December 2010.

"Eto na talaga ‘yon! Super mahal [na gift] pero at least you know that it’s an investment. It’s not just putting my money aside or to waste.”

Jasmine added, "It’s going somewhere that I will be using everyday and ako talaga ‘yung uuwi so worth it naman.”

Her own identity

Having an extremely famous sibling in showbiz could be a curse or a privilege.

For Jasmine, a well-deserved acting trophy from Cinemalaya could be a good stepping stone to make a name for herself.

Last year, the young actress surprised the independent filmfest jury with her powerful performance in the OFW drama “Transit,” for which Jasmine was named Cinemalaya’s Best Supporting Actress.

“Transit” went on to win Cinemalaya new breed category's Best Film and bagged for Irma Adlawan Best Actress honors.

Her condo visitors

Among Jasmine’s first visitors in her spanking new flat is boyfriend Sam Concepcion and talent manager Betchay Vidanes. Jasmine’s hair and make-up stylist also paid her a visit.

"Okay kami! I’m just happy that I can breathe and I’m just a very happy person right now,” the actress said on Sam’s admission of their relationship.

It will be recalled that Anne and Sam were caught in an ugly incident during Vice Ganda’s birthday party last March. Both confirmed a confrontation indeed happened—just less scandalous than what was earlier reported.

Jasmine enjoys the perks of being independent.

“I can wake up at anytime that I want. My ate doesn’t barge in anymore if she wants someone to eat with—although you know, it’s nice that she wants to have a companion while eating—but now I just keep sleeping uninterrupted.”

She's off to film a horror movie with Paulo Avelino under Regal Films as soon as the first season of “Jasmine” the series ends.

The young actress will also co-star in another horror-thriller, this time with the Superstar, Nora Aunor. The upcoming movie "Dementia" was mostly shot in the picturesque Batanes by Perci Intalan. The new breed director formerly held executive position at TV5, for which Jasmine and Ate Guy are exclusive talents.
