JC, Julia named Emerging Male and Female Star #YahooAwards
Kapamilya artists JC de Vera and Julia Barretto’s careers are expected to skyrocket, now that they bagged their newest trophies as Emerging Male Star and Emerging Female Star respectively at the Yahoo Celebrity 2014, held at the Mall of Asia Arena last Friday, July 18.
JC got 163,230 votes, besting fellow stars Nash Aguas, Kristoffer Martin, Rocco Nacino and Vin Abrenica, who placed second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Julia, on the other hand, earned 204,708 votes, beating Janella Salvador, Louise delos Reyes, Jessy Mendiola and Janine Gutierrez, in that order.
Shot in the arm
ABS-CBN gave JC’s career a much-needed shot in the arm in 2013, after the network signed him up as one of its contract stars. He was one of the lead stars of the hit teleserye “The Legal Wife” and is currently doing the afternoon teleserye “Moon of Desire.”
JC will also star with Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales in Star Cinema’s upcoming movie “Once a Princess.”
Julia, on the other hand, is taking the intrigues surrounding her family in stride. Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla's 17-year-old daughter said she always remembers her paremts’ advice.
Parents’ advice
“Laging sinasabi ng dad ko na mahalin mo ang mga sumusuporta sa iyo kasi part sila ng journey mo. Magpasalamat ka sa kanila, kasi without them, you wouldn’t be where you are now. Yung mom ko naman, sinasabi niya na maging mabait ka sa lahat kasi you can be the best actress, pero kung masama naman ang ugali mo, wala kang mapupuntahan.”
The teen actress just made a successful debut in the teen fantaserye “Mirabella,” where she portrayed two roles.
