Jessica Soho retires as GMA executive

Jessica Soho's program on GMA 7 is a finalist in the Human Interest category

After serving the network for 30 years, respected broadcast journalist Jessica Soho is retiring as GMA News Program’s First Vice President.

Aside from being the network’s main broadcast journalist, Jessica served as Production News Manager (2000), Acting News Director (2002), Vice President for News (2004), Vice President for News Programs (2008) and First VP for News Programs (2013).

Her show State of the Nation is nominated for Yahoo Celebrity Awards' News Program of the Year.

Stronger credibility

“I am most proud of the fact that under my watch, the credibility of GMA News became even stronger. Filipinos watch us because they know we can be trusted to deliver accurate, objective and balanced reporting because we have no political agenda or biases and we have consistently proven that through administrations, past and present,” Jessica said.

GMA supported her statement by saying that its evening news programs “24 Oras” and “Saksi” became stronger under Jessica’s leadership.

Jessica is not leaving GMA entirely. She remains a Kapuso talent and host of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS), BRIGADA on GMA News TV and State of the Nation (SONA) on GMA News TV.

“I am a Kapuso through the core of my being. I have worked with only one network throughout my entire career because I truly believe in the network’s independence and professionalism,” she said.

Grateful

Jessica thanked the people she has worked with for supporting her as GMA News executive.

“I can never thank the network enough for everything it has given me and my family. I especially thank all my mentors—my bosses and cameramen in our old newsroom as well as my colleagues now—fellow managers, producers, reporters, talents and crews for the opportunity to lead them. It has been a great honor and privilege working with the best in the industry. Although I am retired from my position, I will always be a proud member of GMA News and Public Affairs.”

GMA announced that its evening news programs “24 Oras” and “Saksi” became stronger under the leadership of Jessica, who recently received the Most Trusted News Presenter award from Reader’s Digest..
