JM reveals why he and Jessy broke up
Now that he's back from a one-year break from showbiz, Kapamilya actor JM de Guzman finally broke his silence about the reason why he and actress Jessy Mendiola parted ways.
“Yes, pinasok ako sa rehab dahil unmanageable na ako. Gumamit ako ng droga. Sinubukan ko yung hindi dapat subukan,” JM said in an interview on “The Buzz” on Sunday, August 3.
‘I lost control’
The 25-year-old actor admitted the problem occurred while he was doing the teleserye “Angelito."
“May mga kailangan akong ayusin sa sarili ko dahil nagkaproblema ako. Totoo po iyon. Naging iresponsable ako. Nawala disiplina ko. Lumaki ulo ko. I lost control.”
JM himself, with the help of his grandfather, volunteered to enter a rehabilitation center because he could no longer manage himself.
“Mentally, hindi na ako makapag-isip ng diretso. Hindi ko na mapagkatiwalaan yung mga sarili kong desisyon. Responsibilidad, nawawala na din sa akin. Disiplina, wala na. Emotionally, hindi ko na kayang i-control.”
Different life
He shared how different life under rehabilitation was.
“Ten months, andoon lang ako sa loob hindi ako lumalabas. May structure yung bawat araw namin. Nagwawalis-walis. Then prepare ng breakfast, simula na yung usap. Magkakamustahan.”
JM stressed that Jessy had nothing to do with his drug use.
“Decision ko iyon, choice ko iyon. And naging rason iyon kung bakit kami naghiwalay. Isa iyon sa maraming rason.”
Two months to go
JM admits regretting his mistakes, but he doesn’t want to dwell on them and would rather think positive.
Now that he has two months to go before completing his 15-month rehabilitation program, JM has learned his lessons.
“Na-appreciate ko yung mga maliliit na bagay, simpleng bagay na nilalalatag sa akin ng Diyos. Noon wala akong kinikilala na kahinaan ko. Akala ko kaya ko ang lahat.”
JM will have a guest appearance in the legal series “Ipaglaban Mo,” where he appears with Yam Concepcion, Ketchup Eusebio and Janus del Prado.
