John Oates and St. Martin's Press ink 'intimate' book deal

St. Martin's Press has revealed it will publish a memoir penned by John Oates, one half of the rock band duo Hall & Oates, in late 2016.

Oates, who formed the band with Darly Hall in the '70s, said the book will tell the "intimate and fascinating" story about his life and career (via Billboard), with details to come from journals he has kept over the years.

Veteran music journalist and author Chris Epting is also said to be involved in the project, which is expected to reveal facets of Oates' trek to the top that have previously remained secret.

Hall & Oates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 for their musical contributions, including hits such as "Rich Girl'," "Private Eyes" and "Kiss On My List."
