Twenty eight years after she entered showbiz,  Judy Ann Santos remains on top of her game.

“Siguro dahil nag-aaccept ako ng mga pagbabago na sinasabi ng mga tao sa akin, mga batikos, mapaganda or hindi. For me, I take it as a compliment kasi it’s a way for me to branch out to other things,” Judy Ann said at the press conference of the movie “T’yanak,” which is the remake of the 1988 horror movie.

While doing hit teleseryes and movies, Judy Ann tried her hand in hosting, culinary and sports activities.

She currently hosts “Bet on Your Baby” and “I Do” and is doing a new cookbook.

Handling criticisms

“Siguro with the help of people who believe in me, more than I believe in myself, kung hindi dahil sa kanila hindi din siguro ako magba-branch out to other things.”

Taking criticisms positively and keeping her faith in God help Judy Ann maintain her career. The mother of two also balances family and career.

“Palatawa ako. So tinatawanan ko lang yung mga bagay-bagay. Pinagdadasal ko na lang kung ano yung way ni Lord for my career, doon na lang ako pupunta. Hindi ako magre-resist kasi hindi ko din naman talaga alam kung saan ako pupunta.”

One project after the other

At a time when many of her contemporaries are not as active in showbiz anymore, Judy Ann still has one project after another.

“Hindi porket tumatanda ka eh hindi ka na pwedeng mag-evolve. Andito lang ako sa stage na I have to prove to anyone more than to myself na hindi porket tumatanda ako eh pwede na akong makalimutan ng mga tao. I will grow old gracefully and at the same time I will grow old na yung mga batang susunod sa akin eh maganda yung path na tatahakin nila kung susundan nila yung path na tinahak ko.”

Judy Ann feels blessed working with directors Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes for the movie “T’yanak,” one of four entries in the Sineng Pambansa Horror Festival.

“It was a part of my long bucket list. Noong nagretire sila, sabi ko talaga, ‘Naku wala ng pag-asa pala ito.’ I heard good stories about them from everyone kung paano sila nagiging good sa craft nila because they were trained by the master directors Peque and Lore, so all the more nagbubula yung passion ko.”

More than flattered

The Kapamilya actress reprises the role  Janice de Belen played in “T’yanak,” which also stars Tom Rodriguez, Solenn Heussaff and Sid Lucero.

“I’m more than flattered to be doing it. Of course, hindi ko naman pwedeng i-remake iyon kung paano nila ginawa iyon kasi we’re two different people. Magkaiba naman yung aming pagtrabaho. But I try my best na magampanan ng maayos yung role ni Julie. It is more modernized compared to the old Tyanak. Ibang-iba pero yung pananakot at pang-gulat, andoon pa rin,” Judy Ann said in a separate interview for her  newest endorsement, Lock & Lock in SM North EDSA on Saturday, October 18.
