Kapamilya actress-TV host Judy Ann Santos immediately comforted close friend Sharon Cuneta, who has admitted in her Facebook account that she has gone through a mid-life crisis and that her shortcomings as a person and as a celebrity have brought her problems.

“Hindi naman nawala yung communication namin ni Ate Sharon. Nagte-text kami once in a while, pero hindi lang din talaga kami nagkikita. That Monday, nag-decide ako na puntahan na talaga siya kasi matagal na kaming hindi nagkikita. Para lang mangamusta, para lang makapag-usap, makipagkwentuhan,” Judy Ann said at the press conference of her new reality show “I Do” on Wednesday, August 20.

Very grateful

The two stars’ friendship started on the set of their movie, “Magkapatid” in 2002.

“I’m very grateful na hanggang ngayon na-preserve ko ang friendship namin kasi it’s something na hindi mo makikita sa ibang tao,” Judy Ann added.

The “I Do” host assured everyone Sharon is “doing okay.”

“She’s coping. She’s trying to work things out. Yes she said naman in her post na medyo dumaan siya sa state of depression and state of loneliness. Pero all I can say now is ang daming acceptance and realization ni Ate. So she’s doing good. She’s doing well.”

Battling weight problem

Judy Ann also shared that she is encouraging Sharon to continue her diet plan, and to run and exercise with her to solve her (Sharon’s) weight problem.

“Ang hinihingi niya lang siguro ngayon sa mga tao is understanding and prayers na ma-overcome niya kung ano man ang struggles na pinagdadaanan niya and that’s why we’re here for her, yung mga kaibigan niya.”

Sharon may be in a low point in her life, but Judy Ann is sure her friend will not go as far as committing suicide.

“Siya mismo ang nagsabi na hindi mangyayari iyon. Depression can come in the ugliest form, hindi ba? Yung suicide moment, iyon ang isang bagay na hinding-hindi niya gagawin. Knowing Ate, she’s better than that.”

Mother Lily and  Alfie

Judy Ann also shared her sentiments about the rift between her long-time manager Alfie Lorenzo and Regal Films producer Mother Lily Monteverde, who had a shouting match before the press conference of the movie “Somebody to Love.”

Mother Lily felt offended when Alfie called “Somebody to Love” director Joey Reyes “malas.”

“Sana lang nga hindi na lang nangyari. If we can only turn back that day noong nangyari iyon, sana lang pwede ko siyang burahin ng liquid paper and ma-erase siya sa Internet, sa media, and everything because it was an ugly situation between two friends.”

Is she the cause of Alfie’s ill feelings towards Joey?

Hands-off policy

“Noong ‘Ang Mga Mumunting Lihim’ pa, nagkaroon na feeling si Tito Alfie na parang na-bypass siya or something. Pero napag-usapan na, two years ago na iyon. So, it was a little thing na dapat hindi na lang lumaki. It was a situation na nangyari naman sa aming tatlo. Hindi na siya dapat pa lumabas kasi hindi naman na involve ang ibang tao doon. So that was two years ago, I never thought na aabot pa siya sa ganito na may iba pang taong madadamay.”

Although she is close to Mother Lily and Alfie, Judy Ann doesn’t want to meddle in their problem.

“May mga bagay na hindi natin hawak. Ayaw kong sabihin na magiging tulay ako kasi pareho naman na silang alam na nila ang ginagawa nila at hindi ako ang magiging daan para magsabi kung ano ang dapat nilang gawin dahil hindi hamak naman na mas bata ako sa kanila. At ayaw ko naman sabihin na dinidiktahan ko sila kasi hindi naman ako naging ganoon to begin with. All I can do now is to pray that everything will be okay. Sana lang hindi na siya nangyari.”

The reality show “I Do” sees couples taking different challenges in the hope of winning the wedding of their dreams, a house and lot and a car.

The show starts airing on Saturday, August 30.
