Junjun apologizes to Kris
Makati Mayor Junjun Binay tried to assuage an offended Kris’s feelings by apologizing to her for the statements he issued about marriage and separation.
According to “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Junjun’s spokesperson Joey Salgado released a press statement saying that Junjun has already apologized to Kris and did not intend to hurt her. “The mayor said those words in jest. He did not intend to offend anyone especially Kris. Mayor Jun and Kris talked last night,” the statement said.
Junjun’s comments about marriage and separation in a Philippine Star article have offended Kris. She expressed her unhappiness about it last Monday on Twitter.
In the article, Junjun remarked, “Why do people marry? Because of lack of knowledge...Why do people separate? Because of lack of experience...Why do people remarry? Because of loss of memory.”
Junjun’s spokesperson also said the mayor doesn’t intend to remarry immediately as his wife had just died and he has kids and a city to take care of. “Mayor Jun Binay told the columnist that he has no immediate plans of remarrying because his wife, whom he loved dearly, had just passed away,” the press statement continued.
Joke
In an interview with “TV Patrol,” Kris explained why she got sensitive over the mayor’s remarks. “Siguro hindi maalis sa kin na yung pagkadugtong kase ng article was pertaining to me, tapos yung pa-joke na sinabi nya sa dulo tungkol sa paghihiwalay. Syempre, sabi ko, parang ako yung natamaan doon,” Kris shared.
Kris also said that she is sensitive over talks about marriage because of her personal situation. Kris and James ended their five-year marriage last year. “Marami rin kaming pinagdaanan ni James. Kaya lang ako naging overly-sensitive dahil sa personal na sitwasyon ko,” Kris said.
Even if Junjun said in the article that he and Kris are friends, Kris said a friend must not treat the other the way Junjun did. “If you read it, na kung nagdi-date kami, klaro na sinabi nya na magkaibigin kami. And feeling ko lang, hindi mo ginaganon ang kaibigan mo,” Kris said.
Kris avoids Junjun
She feels said the issue has affected her friendship with Junjun. “Nalungkot talaga ako kase okay yung pagsasama namin, okay ang pagkakaibigan namin. Pero dahil nga nalalagyan ng kulay, ang hirap maging friends,” Kris explained.
Kris also said that she has already talked to Junjun about it.
“Nagka-usap na kami ni Mayor Jun, okay naman,” Kris said.
However, Kris said in the interview that she is firm in her decision to avoid Junjun, a sentiment she first expressed on Twitter.
“Para nga matapos na nga lahat ng ito, keep a distance na lang ako, para there’s no reason for me to get hurt anymore,” Kris said.
Kris also tweeted on Tuesday, July 19, that she already wants to move on and leave the issues behind. “Time to sleep & put yesterday & today behind me- time to look forward to a better, brighter & joyful tomorrow!"
