The tragedy that befell passengers of the sunken ferry in South Korea has sparked a wave of sympathy from K-pop stars, who are praying, not just for those aboard the  sea vessel, but for their bereaved families as well.

The  ferry, which reportedly has 475 passengers,  among them 325 students, was on its way to Jeju Island when it capsized in the morning of Wednesday, April 16.  A total of 287 passengers are reportedly  missing, while eight are said to be dead. Reports say 179 passengers have been rescued.

K-pop stars took to social media to show their concern for the victims. The hashtag #prayforSouthKorea is still trending on Twitter.

Singer-music producer Jay Park asked his followers to “pray for a miracle.”

“Just heard about what happened.... So unfortunate everyone pray for a miracle.. Rip to the lost ones,” Jay posted.

More casualties

2PM’s Nichkhun also asked for prayers, while his fellow 2PM member Jun. K said he hoped  “everyone will be rescued safely.”

“Let's pray for the sunken ship. Hope they will find more survivors,” Nichkhun tweeted.

The rising number of casualties saddens U-Kiss member Kevin Woo.

"The deaths don't stop. Watching the news makes me feel bad. Pray for students and their families." he said.

Answers and healing

Royal Pirates’ James prays for “answers and healing.” Eric Nam also prays for “the ship and all those affected.”

“My heart goes out to the victims and all those affected by the ferry tragedy. Please God provide answers and healing," James tweeted.

Super Junior’s Ryeowook, who just came from on overseas trip, also hopes  the passengers will be rescued.

Postponed shows

TV networks are reportedly postponing some of their shows. Other K-pop groups and singers, who are supposed to make their comeback this week, are also reportedly postponing their plans.

Hip-hop group Block B, which has just come up with the music video “Jackpot,” decided to postpone the release of the single. Like its fellow K-pop groups, Block B hopes for the passengers’ safe return to their respective homes.  APink is also reportedly postponing the fan meeting for its third anniversary.
