Karylle: ‘It’s Showtime’ just wants to make people happy

“It’s Showtime” host Karylle admits feeling the heat even more, now that the talent search program has moved to a noontime slot.

But she likes to see it as a challenge to continue making viewers happy.

“We’re not gonna think na as if we’re competing with anybody. We just wanna make people happy and make them more happy. Yun yung main thing na pinanghahawakan ko na gusto naming gawin,” she said at the press launch of her new endorsement, Jeunesse, at the White House in Quezon City on Wednesday, February 1.

Caravan

Karylle also shared how ABS-CBN management fully supports their new show. Karylle and her “It’s Showtime” co-hosts held a caravan around Metro Manila last January 30.

“Nakakatuwa yung nangyari nung the other day with the Unkabogable Bus. We saw the response of ABS-CBN family. Nagtipon-tipon yung mga ABS-CBN employees with small banners sa labas. So may feeling na, okay, we’re all in this together,” she said

Karylle is still mum about the real score between her and Spongecola frontman Yael Yuzon, who has also chosen to keep his lips sealed on the issue.

“Ayaw ko nang mag-overshare kasi nagawa ko na yun before. Hindi naman sa deadma, pero whenever I sing or write songs, andun naman yung message. Kayo nang bahala kung para kaninong lalaki yan,” Karylle explained.

Lesson learned

It’s a lesson learned for Karylle, who now wants to keep her personal life and relationship more private, since her previous relationship (with Dingdong Dantes, now the boyfriend of Marian Rivera) was much publicized.

“For me, I would think na shame on me if I haven’t learned my lesson. I’ve gone through so much publicly na if the same thing should happen to me again, no one’s gonna feel like, ‘Ay kawawa naman siya.’ Eh yun naman yung ginusto mo eh,” Karylle added.

She revealed that her fans understand her privacy, as well as her thoughts on relationships as she expresses them in her music.

“The music fans, if they listen to the songs, I think they get the message,” she said.

Is her strategy about keeping mum about her love life working?

“So far, so good. Sometimes it’s better sung than said,” Karylle replies.

“It’s Showtime” is also hosted by Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Billy Crawford, Karylle, ‘Kuya’ Kim Atienza, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta and Vice Ganda. They will also be joined by former judges Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang and Coleen Garcia.
