Katy Perry joins cast of 'The Sims 3'
Pop star Katy Perry is to feature in a special edition of The Sims 3 Showtime, a showbiz expansion for best-selling computer game The Sims 3.
The deal means that The Sims 3 Showtime Katy Perry Collector's Edition will include the Showtime expansion (also available separately or as a download), and a suite of special in-game items: the Ultimate Stage bonus venue, Katy Perry fashions, props, avatar clothes and props.
Electronic Arts says that this marks "the beginning of extensive and exclusive creative collaboration," with Showtime expected to arrive in March 2012 -- previous rumors had indicated that Lady Gaga would appear in the game instead.
Other video game tie-ins from the world of music include Michael Jackson's posthumous The Michael Jackson Experience (a re-skin of Just Dance), 50 Cent's crazed pursuit of a diamond-encrusted skull in Blood on the Sand, and Justin Bieber's use of a Nintendo 3DS in the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" video.
