Kim: ‘I’d date Angel, Iza, Marian’

No, Kim Chiu hasn’t suddenly swung both ways.

She was just responding to reporters who wanted to know who she’d date if she were a man.

The question arose because in her new TV series for ABS-CBN, "My Binondo Girl," Kim plays the role of Jade, a young girl, masquerading as a boy, Yuan, to win the affection of her father, a very old-fashioned Chinese businessman who prefers sons to daughters.

So, if she were a man, who would she court? Kim was asked during the press conference of "My Binondo Girl."

After some thinking, Kim answered: "Sina Angel Aquino, Iza Calzado at Marian Rivera. Ang gaganda nila, I admire their beauty and they are talented."

The fact that Iza and Marian are GMA Network talents and not from Kim's Kapamilya network may mean the young actress was being especially candid.

In “Binondo Girl,” Kim also wore a moustache so she’d look the part of a young boy.  It was something that drew attention when they shot scenes in Hong Kong.

She said that when she first saw her image as a man, Kim was amused and pleasantly surprised. "Ang guwapo ko pala," she said with a hearty laughter.

"Pero mahirap to play a man talaga. Kailangan lakasan ko boses ko. Kailangan talian nila dibdib ko to make it flat. But dressing up mas madali pag lalaki ka. Kasi di kailangan mag-makeup tulad ng babae."

Helping her give her best were director Malou Sevilla and co-stars Ai Ai Delas Alas, Cherry Pie Picache and Gina Pareño.

Kim also has three leading men in "My Binondo Girl," Jolo Revilla, Xian Lim and Matteo Guidecilli. Also in the cast are Glydel Mercado, Laureen Uy and Ricardo Cepeda.
