Kris Aquino 'ninang' in Melai-Jason wedding
TV host-actress Kris Aquino will fly to General Santos City in December, when her friend Melai Cantiveros marries her boyfriend and father of her unborn child, in December.
"She (Melai) texted me to say, 'Please block off po, ninang po kayo, tapos si Bimb (Bimby, Kris’ youngest son) will be our ring bearer,'" Kris said during the Friday episode of "KrisTV."
Melai's close friends and "Banana Split" co-stars Angelica Panganiban and Pooh guested on the said episode. Kris told them that she became emotional upon learning about Melai's pregnancy.
"As friends and people who sincerely love her, we should just be there," Kris said.
Angelica, who admitted that she, too, got emotional when Melai told her about the pregnancy, added that she’s willing to help the couple get started.
"Sabi ko, 'Sige, balitaan mo na lang ako sa kasal, puntahan na lang kita.' Kasi nasa GenSan siya di ba? Parang hindi siya makapaniwala na susuportahan ko na sila ngayon."
No TV appearances for now
Kris explained that Melai no longer appears in "KrisTV" as guest co-host because of her delicate condition. Kris also clarified that she doesn't have ill feelings towards Melai.
"Why did she have to stop? Kasi iyon ang tanong ng lahat. Kasi I keep getting these posts sa IG (Instagram) na, 'Nagtampo ba kayo sa kanya kaya wala na siya sa Kris TV?' And I keep on telling everybody na it's a delicate time in her pregnancy. And because we are always outside, hindi naman pwede na matagtag, baka madapa o mapagod. Baka kung anong mangyari."
Pooh said that he and Melai’s “Banana Split” family understand why she can’t return to the show yet.
"Wala siyang pormal na pagpapaalam. Basta sabi niya lang na hindi muna siya magti-taping. Naiintindihan namin.
