(UPDATE) Kris Aquino drew flak for the way she interviewed Andrew Garfield, who plays the lead role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The controversial host of “Kris TV” got negative comments on Twitter when she told Garfield in the April 25 episode of her show, that the first-day income of her son Bimby Yap’s movie, “My Little Bossings’ in the Philippines beat that of “Spider-Man's.”

“Our movie holds the record for the highest first-day gross. It’s called “My Little bosses. It’s a comedy shown on Christmas day.”

Garfield showed no irritation and graciously congratulated Kris. But some netizens, who saw no need for Kris to talk about the success of her son’s movie to Garfield, were not pleased.

Before the actual interview started, Kris also told Garfield she saw Spider-Man 1, but Bimby spilled the beans and told the Hollywood actor his mom fell asleep while watching the movie. Kris finally admitted she saw the first 30 minutes of the movie.

“I’ve been watching at home and sorry, I’ve been working non-stop. I’m going to die. But I saw the part-2. They showed me 30 minutes,” she explained.

She later made up for her inadequacies by telling Garfield how much she appreciated Spider-Man 2.

“I saw the scenes and I was blown away. I am so much in awe, maybe because the love story is so much clearer and I am a girl. So I got it so much more I love the Times Square scene. I think it defines what happens between you and Max, from idolizing you to suddenly being an enemy.”

The interview proper started with Kris asking Garfield about his comment that it’s great to be Spiderman, but it’s pretty hard to be Peter Parker. Garfield replied with, “When you get to be Spiderman, you’re serving something greater, your one purpose is to save people’s lives and take care of people and to talk terrorists out of doing terrorist acts. It’s a very simple thing. It’s a real beautiful destiny to be given, like being a rescue worker or some kind of doctor.”

On the other side of the coin is Peter Parker, the guy inside the Spiderman suit. Garfield describes him as a “kid struggling with what it’s like being a teenager, struggling with love struggling with trying to have his own life. That, I think is the forever conflict between Peter and Spiderman. I think that’s the really interesting and empowering thing for young people as well.” Kris remarked that this sends a positive message to kids that “you can stand up against bullies, you can be your own voice, you can be very strong. For someone like him (Bimby), you are an inspiration.”

She followed this up with a a question: “How does it feel that so many kids look up to you? Garfield said he also looks up to Spider-Man. “I have the honor of holding the symbol for the time being until I pass it on to the next young person who’s gonna be playing the character. .. The other thing that’s empowering about Spider-Man is that he is imperfect. He can be the hero while being the messy, imperfect human being Peter Parker is. And those two things can co-exist.” Garfield feels this is empowering because people can own up to their imperfections and own their destiny and their own heroics.

“But I think Andrew Garfield is even more amazing because you said, ‘I like working with people who are better than me,” Kris followed up. After the actor gave an answer, Kris told him that the overwhelming question people want to ask centers on “with great hair comes great responsibility.”

When Garfield told Kris he doesn’t know what to do with his hair, she replied that “It’s thanking God for such great blessing.”

The interview ended with Kris asking Garfield if she can take a photo of Bimby and the actor and describing it as “the ultimate Mama moment.” Garfield graciously allowed her and put his arms around the boy’s waist.
