'Bawal ang duwag,' Kris learns from late mom

Kris Aquino makes peace with James Yap

It only took a single text message for TV host Kris Aquino and Judy Ann Santos to patch things up.

The embattled TV host shared this piece of good news on Instagram Thursday, where she screen-grabbed their exchange of SMS for all her 1.5 million followers to see.

This is Kris' latest move to make up with her friends whom she had misunderstanding when they aired sentiments critical of her brother, President Benigno Aquino III.

Recall that Kris had earlier cleared the air with Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez after they expressed opinions unfavorable to the President. The real-life couple was among those celebrities who supported Aquino's presidential bid in 2010.

Unfollow mode still on

On Thursday, the TV host celebrated having 1.5 million Instagram followers by changing her handle to  @withlovekrisaquino and creating another account.

But while she gained 100,000 followers in two days, Kris noticeably unfollowed 30 accounts—from 285 on Feb. 3 down to 255 on Feb. 5. It is not immediately known who are those she unfollowed.

The usually opinionated TV host has pledged to keep quiet amidst the latest crisis involving her brother. But the vow of silence doesn’t apply to her wardrobe as she consistently wears cryptic statement shirts on “Kris TV” and “Aquino & Abunda Tonight."

The 43-year-old TV host has also turned her Instagram into an account full of bible verses and inspiring quotes ever since her brother has been widely-criticized for his handling of a costly encounter in Mamasapano, Maguindanao that left 44 PNP Special Action Force men dead.

Drawing strength from late mom

Meanwhile, Kris related she draws strength from her late mother, democracy icon Cory Aquino.

"Friends have asked where do I get my strength? I replied: from my Mom, from what I saw in her growing up, from what she instilled in me, she never condoned my mistakes, but she never lost faith that I could be better... And most of all, because she taught me how TO PRAY... Until she died, my Mom never showed me weakness, sa kanya BAWAL ANG DUWAG."

The presidential sister had earlier reminded netizens speaking ill of her brother that that she takes grave threats seriously, especially since her father, Senator Ninoy Aquino, died from assassination.
